Thank you to everyone that was able to make it to our Parent Share this morning!
This morning we learned about Jackson Pollock and everyone got to make their own splatter painting. They look amazing but they may take a few days to dry! We had a great Friday! We started with Morning Meeting in the gym where Becca got to principal for the day with Mr. T. She did a great job and looked like she was having a lot of fun! Principal Becca also came to read to us during snack today! Great job, Becca! This week we also brainstormed a wish list of things we hope we get to do before Kindergarten is over. Today we got to cross skip math off the list and went outside to enjoy this amazing weather! We will do our best to cross off as many more as we can between now and June 10th but they know we may not get to them all! If you see anything on the list that you'd like to help with let us know!
Have a great weekend! We've been busy the last few weeks! May is a big assessment month for us and it's incredible to see how much everyone has learned and grown throughout Kindergarten. They have a lot to be proud of!
In literacy we have been working on non fiction writing which is going very well and everyone has some very interesting topics they want to write about! In math we have been playing many different games with dice and making number sentences, both addition and subtraction. Some reminders: We are DONE with Keywords! Thank you to all the parents that have been helping us on Monday and Wednesdays, we really appreciate it! We are also DONE with book bags! We are going to begin collecting them in hopes that we have them all back in the next few weeks. So if you sent one in recently we will not be returning it! May 26 - Parent Share, 8am (**please let us know if you can't make it so we can find another adult for your child to share his/her work with**) June 1 - North Beach June 2 - Field Day June 3 - K/1 Concert, 8:15 Here are some pictures from the last two weeks: We had a great end of the week and got to enjoy a little extra time in the sunshine this afternoon! Only in Vermont do kids pull each other in sleds in May! Today we finished up our Monet pictures and added the lily pads to our water scenes. We hope everyone has a great weekend! See you Monday!
This week in literacy we have been working hard reading and writing and emphasizing correct letter formation. We have been noticing that many kids are making their letters from the bottom up when we really need them to be top down. This will help with their writing fluency as they begin to write more and more. If you do any writing at home and could reiterate pull down from the top to make our letters we would appreciate it! We have also been working on some Mother's Day projects which they've done a great job with!
